Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Bahrain 2025

Post by Londoner »

1. Pierre Gasly. The Alpine is a basketcase, how on earth did he make Q3 and finish 7th?

2. Haas. Another excellent strategy.

1) Haas: Two point scorers, including the best rookie result today.

2) Pierre Gasly: Considering that the Alpine doesn't look like a world-beater by any standards, 7th is a very good end result.

1. Gasly. On it all weekend and got points meaning all teams have points this year.

2. Haas. Somehow Bearman made the Hard Tyres work and got a double points finish

Hm Yuki Tsunoda. Point in the Red Bull!!

Haas did get a double points finish a couple of races ago in the Chinese GP - still, I do agree that, given where they started (14th and 20th), working their way up to a double points finish is still a notable achievement.

Seeing how he did, I'll be interested to see how Gasly might fare at the slower speed circuits with more turns - he was very competitive in the middle sector of the lap, suggesting they have a fairly decent chassis.

Pierre Gasly: In Japan many believed that the Alpine was a good chassis being let down by the Renault engine. Gasly proved that with a fine 4th on the grid and coming within a lap of a top 6 finish. I’m predicting he’ll cause a big surprise in Monaco if he can nail that weekend

Haas: The troubles of Australia are now well behind them. Another great strategy and another double points finish from where they started

Between Gasly and Haas for me again - Gasly must have had some sort of car problem at the end at he was 2 seconds behind Max at the end so can't really blame him.

1. Pierre Gasly. The pecking order appears to be McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, and Gasly. He seems to just show up and exceed all expectations.

2. Yuki Tsunoda. Even though he was anonymous in Japan, he got to grips of the Red Bull this round and justified replacing Lawson.

Gasly's car was working fine - the problem seems to be that the energy recovery systems on the Renault power unit are less efficient than their rivals. Gasly could therefore briefly use the "overtake" manual override setting on the main straight on the final lap, whereas Verstappen could use the overtake mode on his car for several seconds on that final lap, giving him a significant advantage on the main straight and allowing him to easily catch and pass Gasly on the run to Turn 4.
