On Gran Turismo 5 the A.I. drivers get random names and in a few races ive seen S. Schumacher and a couple of Kobayashi's pop up but tonight i had a T. Inoue pop up driving a 2002 beetle in the European GTI cup race on the Rome track..... :lol:

he finished 8th

I'm seriously tempted to splash out on a PS3 just so I can play GT5 (I've already got an XBox 360).

The only things stopping me are:

a) I barely get to play my X Box these days (2/3 times a week max), I doubt I'd play the PS3 that much more.
b) My parents would probably go spare although I could easily afford it.

To be honest, I was thinking about getting myself a brand new videogame system, but I need to know if GT5 can be played properly without an steering wheel, as I can't afford myself to buy one. Could WeirdKerr or someone who has played the game answer me? Thanks in advance.

Although GT5 looks like an enormous driving sim; I won´t buy it until they improve the AI. Whenever GT has a nice AI I´ll buy it.

My B-Spec driver T. Kobayashi has won every single race he has entered and is a better drifter than me (even though the drifting is unintentional).
I've raced against quite a few drivers with rejects names including Yamamoto, Campos and Baumgartner (hoping to one day race against HWNSNBM).

It plays fairly well with the normal PS3 controller (as I don't have a steering wheel either), but you may need to use driving aids in some cars.

EDIT: Just about to race against P. Mccarthy in a Ferrari 599 at Monza.
EDIT 2: He finished 9th out of 16 in the race, ahead of an F40 but behind a 512BB

they are a lot better than in earlier games..... but to be honest ive never found a racing game yet that the A.I. drivers are anything other than a bunch of rene arnoux....

I just raced against R. Schuhmacher (yes, that misspelling of Schumacher is intentional) and J. Wilson in a VW Lupo race at the Nurburgring. Schuhmacher finished second and Wilson finished 8th.

Sorry, no on both counts. The Rome circuit this time is a pretty high speed blast past the Colliseum rather than the old twisty one.

I would like to say that the game is excellent though, I've been using my old Logitech Driving Force GT, a Gran Turismo branded force
feedback wheel released at the same time as GT3 and it works perfectly.

P.S. I've raced against a 'Baumgartner' too ...

Earlier tonight I reached level 5 in B-spec, which meant I could get a second driver. I decided that I would take the first F1 driver's name that came out. Unfortunately this turned out to be F. Alonso, so I decided to keep changing the name until I saw T. Montero but sadly I pressed the X button at the wrong time. Finally after many names later I settled with V. Petrov, who in his first race spun a Lamborghini Countach in front of a pack of 9 very expensive classic cars.

NASCAR Racing 2003 Season's AI are generally pretty good, but depending on track.ini settings they can be major asshats and try and win the race on lap 1, but they don't go down without a fight unless you set them to uber-weak AI strength. GNS Physics AI will sometimes force four wide at Talladega, and sometimes they'll do it and not wreck.

Grand Prix 4's AI is generally very good aswell but it can be an absolute nightmare to lap them.

Raced against a few more rejects in the past few days, including J. Wilson and R. Moreno (racing in NASCAR - following in Villeneuve's, Speed's and Papis' footsteps?).
Also raced against a few drivers from other motorsports, including S. Dixon and kostas22's least favourite driver, A. Rossi. As well as this I raced against S. Baumgartner (or as I called him, Salt Baumgartner).
My B-Spec driver V. Petrov is turning out to be hopeless (unlike the real V. Petrov), however I got quite a good laugh when he blocked F. Alonso for a whole race.

Erm, R. Moreno is not an F1 Reject - he scored a second in Japan 1990, as well as other unrejectifying results the following season.

I've recently added another driver to my B-spec team, the dodgy-neck guy himself, S. Yamamoto. No other racing drivers to mention, but I did race against the Croc Hunter, the late S.Irwin (racing that Range Rover around a street track would have been almost as hard as wrestling a crocodile, just without those sharp teeth) and former Black Sabbath lead singer and worldwide target for bat conservationists, O.Osbourne.

Just raced a NASCAR round Monza against T. Tokagi (not Takagi, but close enough?).Then in another race against the reject circuit V. Valencia (2nd for most of the race, finished third) and my favourite for the next female in F1, A. Powell (8th for a while, fell to 12th of 16.
