I thought the HRT would look better with less white. So, I fired up GIMP and before I knew it, this was on my screen:

Looks quite nice actually. Since it seems like you have graphic skills, could you also show us how the car would look if the white was replaced with last year's Dallara grey? Because to be honest I really liked HRT's 2010 livery.

Re: 2011 Car Launches

I put it together really quickly, so it looks a bit sloppier than the yellow one I spent quite a bit of time on to get it right. This one also looks really boring.

Re: 2011 Car Launches
the livery on the new force india looks pretty neat!
I believe in German BARawnda-Tyrrell-Simca(and it's working)

That is so beautiful I want to cry.
Better than 'Tour in a suit case' Takagi.

You should totally e-mail this to Hispania - it looks 100% better and is even sort of in Spanish national colours!
Do it. Now. Do it.

Haha when I saw that I knew that would end up as someone's avatar and you didn't hang around Shinji!
That looks simply awesome that livery.

I definitely had the Spanish national colours in mind when I started working on that. I think it kind of looks like a reject version of last year's Renault livery, to be honest.
I thought about e-mailing that to Hispania as well, but then I realized that they probably don't have enough money to buy yellow paint. I assume that is also the reason why their car is mostly white this year.

Oh, and thanks for the positive feedback, guys. Did you notice that I changed the small Indian flag there into a Hungarian one for the F1Rejects car?

Faustus wrote:The undercut sidepods of the Toro Rosso are very impressive. It's something that I thought about a few times before and wondered why no-one had done it. It's a bit like the Ferrari F92A (a personal favourite of mine) and the Ferrari F310. Interesting to see also that the McLaren incorporates the spacing between the sidepod and the monocoque that was also in both the F92A and F310.
Conceptually, at least, the twin floor idea on the F92A was good - the fact that the teams have been progressively trying to undercut the sidepods suggests that the idea of passing air over the top of the floor to increase the downforce for minimal drag is sound. The problem with the F92A was the execution was poor - that floor design used up a lot of resources, and the raised sidepod design compromised the centre of gravity.
Perhaps some of the advantages of the system were overshadowed by several other problems the car had - the weight distribution was heavily shifted towards the rear, which also compromised the mechanical performance of the car (due to the V12 engine and the additional weight of the semi automatic gearbox).

Re: 2011 Car Launches
I will admit to being very surprised by the new Hispania, despite the "please sponsor us" logos. I never thought it'd look like that. But it reminds me of something...

...it's a Super Aguri! (well... maybe. If they'd survived to this day...?)
Just what I thought, actually, especially with the change mid-season from the charcoal grey with white stripes to the charcoal grey with red and yellow stripes, just to remind us all they're a Spanish team. Great minds think alike, and the next thing I see...
...it's a Jordan! The 1997-onwards version, obviously, but definitely very Jordanesque.
Absolutely do it. Other than the change of stripes last year, Hispania seem to have forgotten to play up their Spanishness - although maybe they're trying to keep it low so as not to bring the country into disrepute if their performance stays as it has been so far - the tables will show they beat Virgin last year but they weren't half lucky, and if they're going to be given a good kicking by the Malaysians and now the Russians, that won't be so much to crow about. Still, who knows, maybe they'll surprise us...
...it's a... Larrousse? This seems to fit the 1994 vintage (the Tourtel version, as opposed to the Kronenbourg mess) - and we all know who ended up driving that to comedically low effect at the end of the season, don't we. So, yes, the ultimate reject car could be paired with the ultimate reject driver.
As for the dark grey coloured Hispania, I was going to say "it's a Minardi!" (2001-2005 vintage), but I thought last year's original design looked like that Minardi anyway, and had the performance to match.

Phoenix McAllister wants to apply for the drive. He brings some money and a funny English accent if needed. And he's Spanish and rejectful, just like the team.

I like how you kept the car's number 23, ambition of a true reject!

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that the suction warning on the HRT is placed in front of the sidepods? The sidepods that contain radiators that do not have radiator fans? Mark of a true reject team when they can't even figure out which hole is sucking air into the engine.

The livery was designed by an outside consultant who I imagine doesn't know how these things work

Yup. That guy is a transportation designer. It's rather disgraceful that a guy who is supposed to design cars for a living doesn't know the difference between an air intake and a radiator, but then designers just seem to want to stick their head in the sand when confronted with technical details.
Nonetheless, you're telling me nobody on a team full of engineers who work on cars for a living wasn't able to spot it and realize the error?

What's the big deal? The point wouldn't be there if it was over the drivers head... "do not stand here"... uhm.

. Do Williams suspect a similar success?

I really hope, no matter how unrealistic, that the times Rubens set in the tests are their real pace (if not still sandbagging!). It would be a magnificent return to the dominance of the sport by Williams and Cosworth.

Since now we have JPS and Rothmans livery, why didn't HRT using Chesterfield livery?

There are a few red highlights, but I think that the other colour is silver, not gold (or at least that is what it looks like with the lighting conditions).

I have to say, though, that, yes, I can see some hints of the liveries that Williams used in the 1990's - but, at least compared to the livery used by the Lotus-Renault team, this looks more like a tribute than a direct rip off of a historic livery.

I am happy to see the Senna Foundation still on the front wing supports. This, I suspect, is free and says a lot about the Williams team.

Re: 2011 Car Launches
I'm not a fan of the Williams livery. A few minor changes would made it excellent, though:
1) Those white fins alongside the sidepods should be dark blue and not white. This is the single most important change they cuold make.
2) The topside of the nose should be white from the WilliamsF1 logo back to the cockpit. Get rid of the random silver and red loop halfway down the nose, too.
3) Find some more sponsors. The FW33 has acres of blank space that is going to waste. Bring back the large numbes from the testing livery, too, even fi they're not on the sidepods.

Is it just me, or does the banner on the Williams website make the FW33 look like the FW26?
EDIT: It's interesting to see that they've finally put AT&T stickers on the car. How come they've only done this now? I thought AT&T were their title sponsor?

They did have AT&T on the front wing, but no-where as much decals as a normal major sponsor.
I read a while ago, the reasons for a few decals is that everyone knew AT&T was title sponsorship, so to get more 'Lenovo' cash, they give em more room on the car.
But I agree, new Williams looks great.
