Frank Williams wrote:Once again, it's awful to lose a race on the last lap like that, especially when Thierry judged that race absolutely perfectly. There was a point where we were nervous as to whether or not Berger was going to catch him, but he just seemed to find some pace right at the end. It was a brilliant drive, that much can't be denied, and it's an incredible shame that Thierry's lost what should've been two wins in similar fashion. Especially when this could've been a 1-2, since Alessandro was running at a similar pace. We still scored some points though, so at least the race wasn't a total loss. I have a feeling that we might need them come the end of the year.

Ligier is going for the "Mega Grip", as the car is reasonably reliable, but Nakajima isn't exactly impressive in pre-qualifying, and needs a push.

Indeed, as someone said earlier, you need to slow right down. When asking people to action a request you should leave 24 hours at absolute minimum for people to respond, probably 48 hours to be reasonable. I'm just here posting right now because I'm on my lunch break at work.

It's like a bus I suppose. Lots of people want to get on and use it, but if it arrives early, no-one will have got to the bus stop yet. At least if it's late, the people have got there and are waiting, it's better than missing it completely. That was an odd metaphor perhaps, but it still sort of illustrates the point.

Lap 24 : Boutsen just hit the barriers! - He can be happy to continue - but Mansell found his way to 2nd

Now, some commercials (will go and eat something :D )

Lap 25 : Modenas suspension seems to be damaged and he stops his race

Lap 28 : Larini (16th) parks his Osella

Lap 30 : Once Again, nothing to score for Rial : Arnoux is out, he was running down in 20th position

Lap 31 : After some early pitstops made, Senna leads 7 Seconds ahead of Boutsen, then Prost in 3rd, Mansell, de Cesaris, Piquet, Brundle, Patrese, Guelmin, Warwick, Herbert, Alboreto, Capelli, Moreno and Barbazza in 15th

Lap 33 : Alboreto stops his Ligier with some technical Problems

Lap 37 : Warwick has to stop his car - Senna and Boutsen coming in for their (one and only?) pit stop ... Prost is in the lead now ahead of Mansell

Lap 38 : Like in the last lap - A Lotus out (Piquet) and a McLaren in the pits (Prost) - Mansell now leads about 9 seconds ahead of Senna, but the Ferrari seems to be on a 2-stop-strategy

Lap 40 : Brundles Ford-Engine quits his work

Lap 45 : Three DNF´s in a row - seems not to be the year of 2-times-world-champion Alain Prost - He looses his 4th Place this time

Lap 48 : Bertrand Gachot on Fire! I mean, not him, but his engine! A shame, he was running in a fine 9th position

Lap 52 : Not a Minardi-day : Barbazza (running 9th) stopped his car

Lap 53 : Mansell makes his final pit-stop ... so the lead is back to Ayrton Senna with 6.3 seconds ahead of Thierry Boutsen and Mansell back to 3rd (about 19 seconds beind)

Lap 55 : With all the (planned) pit-stops done, Senna is leading, Boutsen 2nd, Mansell 3rd, Patrese 4th, de Cesaris 5th, Gugelmin 6th, Capelli 7th, Herbert 8th, Moreno 9th, Cheever 10th, Grouillard 11th and Eric van de Poele in 12th in last

Lap 58 : Focussing Points, its nothing for Mauricio Gugelmin and March today - the car gave up his work

Lap 59 : With Senna still leading, Boutsen has closed the gap to 3.5 Seconds

Lap 63 : We haven´t recognized ... but Nigel Mansell is on an enourmous speed now! He has closed the gap to Thierry Boutsen completly and is fighting him for second place - all this is only 4.5 seconds behind Senna

Lap 64 : Coming out of the tunnel, Mansell passed Boutsen easily!

Lap 66 : Mansell is taking his heart now : He laps at least one second quicker than Senna - EVERY LAP! The Gap is at 1.7 seconds only! And there are 12 more laps!

Lap 67 : ITS REALLY A THRILLER NOW! MANSELL HUNTS SENNA AROUND THE CIRCUIT AND THE BRAZILIAN IS BLOCKING HIM ALL THE WAY! THATS FORMULA ONE 1992.... "Murray, we´ve got 1989"

Lap 71 : Senna and Mansell still in an enourmous fight! And now they are about to lap Riccardo Patrese - the current championship-leader!

Lap 76 : A little bit of trouble for Eric van de Poele : At the start-finish line, he´s lapped by Senna on the outside and Mansell on the Inside! Senna still leading!

Lap 78 : Senna starting into the last lap with a gap of 0.7 seconds - an Arrows is in front of them, but maybe he is not to be lapped anymore.... coming to Loews-Hairpin they are closing the gap to Capellis Arrows.... going into the Tunnel... maybe Mansells last chance to pass, but he is too far away, Capelli lets Senna no way to pass... he lets him pass at the pit entry... but only Senna, he blocks Mansell a little bit giving BOUTSEN THE WAY TO PASS FOR SECOND!!! It´s done, Senna wins, Boutsen 2nd, Mansell 3rd

Quelle bathplugging surprise. Though I only have myself to blame. At least Boutsen's kicking ass again.
