Sigh, wake us up when we get our payed drivers in the car.

Project 4 will upgrade the car in the following areas.

600k - Ground effects
600k - Reliability
600k - Grip
600k - Speed

Osella will spend:
0.5M Grip
0.5M Top Speed
0.2M Reliability

I'm not sure if the engine upgrade is counted in my budget yet, but an upgrade of 100K grip, 100K speed and 200K ground effect should be affordable. That's probably going to be the last non-engine upgrade we'll be able to do, so if this isn't enough to qualify for a second time, our season's going to look very similar to the previous one...

McLaren will spend 600k on Ground Effects. We will be testing it at Thruxton.

Brabham will spend 600k on grip.

The engine upgrade is already counted. And yes, your upgrade is affordable.

Alfa Romeo will invest 300K in both Top Speed and Grip

Since Pironi's gone and gotten himself injured, Jean-Pierre Jarier will replace the Frenchman for the US West Grand Prix, with Didier returning for Mugello.

Shadow will invest in the following areas following this race.

Ground Effects: 600k
Top Speed: 600k

1980 Brazilian Grand Prix - Race:
The battle between Arrows and McLaren continued in Brazil, with Pryce starting from pole position, with the two Arrows and Hunt behind him. The new Osella team made its first start after bringing a large upgrade at Interlagos.

At the start, Laffitte got away well, but not good enough to pass Pryce into the first corner. However, later that lap, he got past at the entry into Curva do Sol and took the lead. Behind them, Hunt and Depailler were fighting for 3rd, with the two Williams and the Brabhams behind them.

Soon Laffite started to pull away from the drivers behind them. Further down the field, there were a couple of early retirements, as Ickx' Suspension broke down, Scheckter spun off, Cheever's Alfa Romeo had electrics problems and Villeneuve's engine blew up.

The race now settled down a bit, but still, Pryce, Hunt and Depailler were fighting for 2nd, and further down, a group consisting of both Shadows, de Angelis, Pironi and Reutemann were constantly changing positions. Keke Rosberg in the Brabham spun and rejoined far down in the field.

Not much to report for the next ten laps, as Laffite continued to pull away. But then, on lap 19, Pironi lost control over his Ligier. He spun off and came to a halt in the middle of the track. Most drivers were able to avoid him, but not Alboreto. The Osella driver slammed into Pironi's car, resulting in a massive crash. Fortunately Alboreto was uninjured, but Pironi was not that lucky. He is going to miss the next Grand Prix at Long Beach.

Then, Reutemann's good race came to an end as his gearbox broke down, the first of a couple of more retirements. Jones, Piquet, Andretti, Regazzoni and most notably Depailler, who was running 3rd, retired from the race. The race became more and more attrition-filled as both Williams, which were 4th and 5th, retired within two laps. The number of retirements had promoted the still fighting group of both Shadows and de Angelis into the points, and also the other remaining drivers, like Alain Prost and Riccardo Patrese,were hoping for good results.

On lap 35, only 13 cars remained in the race with 5 laps to go. The top 6 were Depailler, Pryce, Hunt, Tambay, Johansson and de Angelis. But then, with less than two laps to go, Pryce's engine started to smoke, and Tambay's Shadow had problems as well, so Rosberg in the Brabham and Patrese in the Osella were promoted into the points.
Laffite won the race, followed by Hunt. Shadow can once again celebrate a podium position for Johansson, while Ferrari score their best result for almost a year. Rosberg saves two points for Brabham, and the Osella team score their first point in just their second Grand Prix.

Injury report: Didier Pironi will miss the Western United States GP at Long Beach, but recover in time for the European GP at Mugello.

I'm very dissapointed about this race. Our pace looked good but our reliability is still an issue.
Williams will invest again in our car in order to get better reliability. This means another 600k into reliability as soon as possible.

We are of course happy to have two cars on the podium again. Although Pyrce not finishing is something to consider as we finalize updates.

Pi, are you sure Depailler was the one who won? From the race report I think it should be Laffitte?

Of course Laffite won the race, not Depailler.

Nice to see that our engine and chassis upgrades payed off, an congratulations to Osella for scoring their first points! We will spend a further 600k on grip and 600k on top speed.

After this race, we will invest 300k on ground effect and 300 on reliability.

ATS will spend 300k on speed and 300k on ground effects

Renault has updated its engines for the 3rd race on schedule. It's designed to patch up the reliability issues that they still seem to suffer.

The upgrades will cost 220k each, so 440k per 2-car team.

And in order to encourage spending, Renault's team will pay the fee for their own engines for both cars.

We will take the upgraded engines (and pay for that). We are in a good situation to challenge Mclaren as in 1978, which is good.

I recommend spending 600k on Ground Effects, you know what the RNG is like. Temperamental at best.

We are going to spend 350k in ground effects

Surtees will put 900k into grip.

Yes, you can't afford these upgrades. If you go ahead with them, you team won't even have the money to make it to the next grand prix at Long Beach.

Apart from Suzuki, all these drivers either have spent their money elsewhere (Boro or Rebaque), or are paid to race, and uninterested in paying to drive the ATS. So you might want to look for some other drivers. And as a hint: look for your own drivers and not for those which were on the Wolf, Boro or Rebaque lists.

H'mm that one went better than expected. With the short grid size we certainly weren't expecting to get to main qualifying but Londono wasn't far off this time. He's improved with each race and he might be an option for a return next season. In the mean time we feel we have a good shot of making a race soon with our professionals stepping in from Mugello. Spa will be our best chance with the 32 car grid, considering Londono effectively qualified 35th here. It seems Boro and Kaushen have caught up with the Rebaque, Surtees and March gaggle over the off season so that's a decent start.

No race report this time, because nothing notable happened apart from Pryce dominating and cars breaking down. Actually, the top 7 didn't change at all for over 60 laps before Depailler retired.
