brilliant. I never saw that for some reason.
for me plenty of brundle's witty comments spring to mind, such as petrov "wrestling an octopus" inside the car
Lewis pushing the car back to the pits in canada was pretty funny too. All i can think of right now!

At the Korean GP, during the delay. David Hobbs commented about using twitter, and paid dearly for it. Periodically for the rest of the race, Bob, Steve, and Will, would mention something twitter related. Such as "David could probably tweet Luizzi to see if he's racing for Force India next year." or something like that.

Watching Alonso get stuck behind Petrov in Abu Dhabi was pretty funny. He was forced to sit there and watch his hopes of a third World Championship slip away, knowing full well that he was powerless to do anything about it. Especially once Kubica rejoined the circuit ahead of Petrov; Alonso had to know his race was run then.

Ah yes, I remember the derision that drew, and it summarised his career at HRT in a nutshell too.
Another one that was quite funny at the time: the paper boats that were being raced down the pit lane in the torrents of water washing down the pit lane at the Japanese GP when the track was flooded during qualifying. Asides from the fact that there were some quite good models (IIRC, Red Bull's mechanics really put quite a bit of effort into their model), Gascoyne was teasing Heikki when his boat sank almost immediately after he tried floating it down the pit lane.

I loved watching Alonso gradually blow up under his helmet at Valencia for Hamilton not being punished materially for passing the safety car becuase Kobayashi had bottled up the rest of the field (he was second, he is STILL second......F****!!!!)
- then Kobayashi topped it all off by passing Alonso at the end (then Passed Buemi as well when Alonso couldn't.
Then what happened to Alonso at Silverstone was even funnier becuase he'd have only lost a couple of places without the safety car that just happened to be out when he got his penatly for passing Kubica off-track.

Let me make this clear; I'm not an Alonso fan, and I agree the Kobayashi pass was funny. However I really felt sorry for Alonso when Hamilton overtook the safety car; frankly the penalty he got was ridiculous for the amount of time he saved. Alonso just realised that if he had overtaken the safety car as well, he would have been much better off. To be honest, Alonso has got the raw deal several times nowl...I remember back at Monza in 06 Alonso got the most ridiculous penalty I have ever seen for "blocking" Massa in qualifying when Alonso was no nearer to Massa than 100 metres all the way round the lap.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74il02wkvMIJames1978 wrote:I loved watching Alonso gradually blow up under his helmet at Valencia for Hamilton not being punished materially for passing the safety car becuase Kobayashi had bottled up the rest of the field (he was second, he is STILL second......F****!!!!)- then Kobayashi topped it all off by passing Alonso at the end (then Passed Buemi as well when Alonso couldn't.

I would suggest that there may be a slight bias towards drivers of the same nationality for some members due to the way in which the races are presented by the local media, but otherwise the general consensus here does seem to be towards favouring the underdogs and the drivers who like to joke around and break the stereotypical image of the drivers.
At the very least, I have a pretty healthy amount of respect for most of the drivers on the grid, especially for those drivers who are capable of producing some stunning drives. Drivers like Hamilton, Alonso or Vettel (on the back of the disputes with Webber in 2010) may not always win popularity contests, but, on the other hand, with the right car at the right time, all of them have put in some mesmerising performances, and are pretty effective at keeping the points coming in.

I have to agree that that particular penalty struck me as being extremely arbitrary, and seemingly designed to manipulate the title race in Schumacher's favour. Even Max Mosely said afterwards that the penalty was probably unfair, and that the stewarding of the race was flawed. The penalty might have also been behind Alonso's engine failure in that race - Renault said later that they were using a more aggressive engine map that race to make up the lost ground, which might have contributed to excessive engine wear.

At least Alonso was able to still score points at Valencia 2010, while Massa had the full impact of the awful SC rules, Hamilton's overtake, and had to queue behind Alonso in the pits. Most people don't mention him when they talk about that race.
That whole race was a farce really. I can't believe the SC rules haven't been changed for 2011. Not only is it potentially downright dangerous to have drivers racing back to the pitlane after a SC is called, it produces artificial results. When there was refuelling, I can understand why the pitlane should stay open, but there is absolutely no reason to have it open now. The Hamilton situation made it even worse.

Renault do have a big vested interest in saying that, though.

Re: Your funniest moment of F1 2010?
What I didn't get about the Valencia safety car thing what that Ferrari would have been in the same situation whether Hamilton overtook it or not - then Vettel would have been away on his own. They should have brought it out earlier infront of Vettel! (And as the championship turned out it should have been Vettel they shoud have worried about rather than Hamilton!)

Re: Your funniest moment of F1 2010?
They couldn't bring the SC out earlier, because the crash only happened as the leaders passed the final turn (that's why some cars made it into the pits and others didn't)
I think Alonso would have been angry about it even if it was Kubica or someone else not in the championship battle, he was thinking about the injustice in that race, not the bigger picture, I think.

Renault explaining that Petrov had just crashed out of Q1 in Spa because he had decided to test how wet the track rumble strips were was quite funny. Alonso taking Massa in the pit lane entrance in China (or was it elsewhere?) was pretty funny too.
