Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
Captain Hammer has clearly forfeited his right to start these threads for good, I'm starting it right now because I really need to vent at my nomination for RotR, which is Q3. Could and should have been the most exciting qualifying session of the year, setting up the prospect of a change in the order, instead featured a horrific crash for Perez and a dreadful anticlimax to the session, setting up the prospect of another Vettel procession tommorow. Honourable mention to the section out of the tunnel where both Rosberg and Perez crashed. Thoughts?
Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
Vitantonio Liuzzi for destroying his car twice and being quite far away from the 107%.
Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
I usually give out 3 nominations, in order, but there's still the race tomorrow and I don't yet have 3 candidates - but I'm sure that section of the track just out of the tunnel would be high on the list, if not 1st - both Rosberg's and Pérez's crashes were all too similar, and from what I could see a small bump in the asphalt there caused them to lose the front end, hit the armco and become mere passengers in their cars.
I think I'll post again after the race... with my 3 candidates, as usual.

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
Dare I say Hamilton for not getting in a banker lap and allowing for an eventuality like Perez's accident?
The flip-side of that argument is he probably wouldn't win the race doing the same strategy as Vettel so has to try something different!

Restart Of Q3 After Perez's Accident - Virtually no changes in the grid order, a true waste of petrol, tires and time.
My opinion about the McLaren qualifying outfits is already known, so I don't need to repeat myself.

So far it's The Saurus for me. I'm thinking he'll be extinct really soon...
Stay home, Colin Kolles!
Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
After qualifying I would nominate Renault. Neither car into Q3 after being there 7 out of 10 times earlier this year and to take account last year's performance by Kubica I expected them to be dark horse here.

Some are ugly, yep, but I actually prefer the Monaco one over their usual overall!
Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
There are many potential candidates out there: Renault, Hamilton's engineers, Alguersuari, Liuzzi... but I must nominate the bump at the exit of the tunnel.
Let's hope nothing bad happens there tomorrow.

Thank goodness Rosberg and Perez had a bit of downforce at the back of the car and hadn't been using DRS through the tunnel, increasing their speeds yet further...

So far Renault, but Webber isn't too far away.
Well you or someone else would have nominated the FIA for not restarting qualifying if that had happened...

Jaime Alguersuari: So you're slower than both Lotuses who by rights you should be comfortably beating. That doesn't mean you bump Kobayashi on purpose just to let people know you're there.

Renault-For the team which matched the Red Bulls last year, why can't they this year get into Q3? Kubica must be missed so badly.

Kubica wouldn't have done much better. Maybe Q3, but not a chance of a front row or second row start. The car doesn't have the advantage it had here in 2010.

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
I have to say Lewis Hamilton as well, his attitude and blaming of everyone else (particularly blaming McLaren - without whom he'd be nowhere) is atrocious.
As someone termed it at another site, he's called the "whambulance" again.

That was me with the "whambulance" comment.
Well, now the pain in my rear has calmed down, I'll scratch that safety car thing. Now the obvious nomination is Lewis Hamilton. Just disappointing over the whole weekend.

Going for Sutil and Alguersauri for causing the Safety Car period.

Sutil, Hamilton, and Algersuari -- You all equally fail.

The consensus to resume the race despite 6 laps to go. That's mine. Nuff said.

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
If Hamilton is not reject of the race, I don't know what is. He crashed out Massa and got a penalty. And just crashed out Maldonado from having his first ever points. BAD HAMILTON! BAD HAMILTON!

Lewis hamilton are a strong candidate for ROTR. Your crashes makes massa and maldonado retires.
Waiting for Lotus hiring Johnny Cecotto jr.

No contest - Lewis Hamilton. Driving like he was in a banger race for most of the afternoon - his move on Maldonado was ridiculous.

This is academic. Hamilton for acting like an arse throughout the race.

Mercedes and pit crews in general were strong in the beginning, but no one can beat Hamilton for this ROTR.
Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
HAMILTON!
His attitude is the worst part. He just expects people to jump out of the way.
Also, blaming other drivers and the team is abysmally poor sportsmanship. You don't hear Vettel radioing in complaining about poor pitstops.

Whoever took the decision to allow people to change tyres.
I don't mind whether the rulebook allows for it. It was completely unfair, and it made void the (good) decision to stop the race.

1) Lewis Hamilton for daylight robbery of Maldonado and attacking Massa with an air of desperation.
Honourable Mention: the FIA for red-flagging the race and gifting it to Vettel.

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
Lewis Hamilton. When the Chinese commentators can predict your punts*, that's a sign that your overdriving is getting a little too ridiculous.
Hamilton managed to absolutely pummel Mercedes and pit crews who were strong contenders. Actually, there were quite a lot of ROTR candidates to choose from, but unfortunately Hamilton was a skyscraper among giants.

Well despite my protestations that all Hamilton is trying to do is RACE, it's pretty darn obvious he's getting RotR.

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco!
Here are my nominees:
Lewis Hamilton - Absolutely awful. He should apologize for his behavior.
HRT - Extremely slow and shouldn't have been allowed to race. They were often slower than Moreno in 1992. I doubt the FIA will give them another chance like this.
FIA - The red flags were not cool.

Nominations
Lewis Hamilton
Does anything need to be said?
Paul di Resta
Again, need I say anything?
Honourable mention goes to:
Kamui Kobayashi
I can see the papaya canons being prepared as I type this, but consider this. What was the main factor that ruined the end of the race? The giant crash next to the swimming pool. What caused the giant crash next to the swimming pool? Adrian Sutil's puncture throwing him completely off-line, and creating a concertina behind him. What (probably) caused Sutil's puncture? Kamui Kobayashi's somewhat sideways overtake causing the Sauber's front wing to tag the rear wheel of the Farce India.
Admittedly, the move looked to be a simple, and ultimately forgiveable, error, and he did put in a solid drive to take fifth (that should have been fourth), but utterly ruining a great battle towards the end of the race, albeit indirectly, deserves a mention at the very least.
