Thread is Unrelated

Post by DemocalypseNow »

I have absolutely no idea which forum this belongs in, but as the subject content somewhat links to this I figured I could place it here.

My web design skills were a bit rusty and I had some free time to brush up. I had absolutely no idea where to start as inspiration...until checking F1 Rejects.

So, basically, what does everyone think? What could use some improvement? What was good about it?

Any feedback is appreciated :)

Scuderia Alitalia Test Website

P.S. Some of the links are intentionally blank, I didn't make anything beyond the front page.

I really want to think that this is the opening of the floodgates for the F1WRS and Feeder Series. I think it would be cool if more teams and the series themselves got websites (or the wiki can just be used) and even fake-o facebook and twitter pages.

The website itself is really good, I can't wait to see the website be complete.

Oh...erm...:?

I suppose I could use this as a portfolio site of some sort. Dunno when it'll be finished though. Wasn't really sure if I ever intended to complete it but I guess I will.

Also, after noticing F1RWRS drivers Kay Lon & Thomas De Bock have Twitter profiles, definitely setting up an account for Scuderia Alitalia soon

I have a question... won't Lancia and Alitalia be slightly angry because you've used their logos without permission? Or have you got their permission?

What the... :o
I'm also working on a website for my team (I am working on it in this moment) and just wanted to check the statistics when I noticed your thread.
It's a nice website by the way. When I get to finish mine, I'll put it in here :D

If they get angry at free publicity, it's their loss not mine ;)

IIRC they had adverts & premium service. I don't recieve a single penny for this website therefore in practical terms I'm not vulnerable to litigation. While the legality is neither here nor there, I make zero profit, therefore if they sent me such a notice, I ignored it, they took me to court, and won - they would recieve so little in damages they would have made a financial loss when taking legal costs into account. BATracer had thousands of users and had a decent revenue stream i.e. they had something to lose which Ferrari could gain. I do not.

So...I'm not worried. At all.

Frames is an unusual choice. But it's certainly more colourful than mine!!

The only thing you might want to bear in mind is the navigation panel might be too wide for 4:3 monitors. I'm not sure, I don't have any to test it with. Apart from that, nice :D

And I also think I might re-arrange my own site...thanks to an idea you just gave me!

Edit: Modifications complete :D

Nice!
I took your advice and narrowed the site a bit by changing the header. Looks even better than before :D

Are you using CSS with your website? I'm starting to regret I did, getting the page structures correct for each individual page is becoming a real pain :|

Yes, I do, but I use generators and editors to each site since I'm too lazy to write everything down on my own :D
And, what's important, my sites are simple since they only have the content, without navigation thingies. That's why I use frames.

I'm coding my CSS from the ground up by hand, hence why my task is ten times harder :?

Might make one for ArrowTech if I've got the time. Is there any good web hosting websites that I could use that is relatively easy to design? I'm not very good at programming websites...

The CSS was a b*tch to configure, but the Blog section of the Scuderia Alitalia website is finally complete :)

I felt the old one looked a bit sh*t on reflection, so re-designed the drivers page. Link.

Three isn't almost all :P

And at the time I thought of the name Alessandro Lucarelli, I had forgotten he was a football player for Parma

Plus, I have a massive lack of imagination.
