Senna in F1

Bruno Senna is finally an F1 driver. Can he emulate what Ayrton's last teammate achieved (Damon Hill emulating his father and win the F1 championship)?

I know Bruno is Ayrton's nephew but still...

Lets hope he emulates early Damon Hill rather than late Damon Hill

If you mean the Damon Hill of Williams, 1997 Hungarian GP, and 1998 Belgian GP then exactly. I tend to be good at forgetting Damon's 1999 season at Jordan...

Who goes by their mother's maiden name? Just saying, slight pickyback, not that he doesn't deserve the seat. I'm not expecting much from him though, it's unlikely that Campos will have a good car in my opinion, that goes for all the new teams.
Better than 'Tour in a suit case' Takagi.

Never realised that one before... but true. :)

If his/her's Parents had divorced is about the only logical explanation for something like hat happening. But I don't know if thats the case here, maybe he's gloryhunting or something.

[Tasteless Post] Bruno will definetely be better than his uncle. When Ayrton tried to do this, he never drove again. Bruno's still in it:

First of all - you bastard.

Second of all - I don't think that's Senna. I'm pretty sure it's Ernesto Viso at Magny-Cours in 2007.

Yes, thats Viso. But I think Senna contributed to that accident somehow...think he and (Buemi?) closed the gap between themselves Viso was aiming his car at, so rode the back of their rear wings thus causing the accident in the first place.

Bruno's father was killed in a motorcycle (road) accident in 1995. :(

Not to get passionate or too personal about it, but my Dad's dead and don't go by my Mum's maiden name. I mean, it's sad his Dad died but I'm guessing using Senna is just an understandable way to gain notability.

I think it's part of the Brazilian practice of using both parental surnames, and dropping one to make your name easier to remember when you become a celebrity. Besides, no one complained about Nelson Piquet Souto Maior (except his parents, IIRC), Rubens Gonçalves Barrichello, or for that matter Ayrton Senna da Silva.

I thought Piquet wasn't his actual name, or am getting mixed up...

I honestly don't know why I care actually. For some reason it just seems a teensy bit dishonest.

Your right actually, Piquet wasn't his real name. It was his mother's maiden name. Thus there is a precident for Bruno's actions.

I recall Bruno saying that even if he had raced under his father's name (Lalli) at some point everyone would have known that he is nephew of Ayrton Senna, and so, pressure from outside would have probably been similar.

In fact, Ayrton took the Senna surname because Da Silva was very common :) I think Bruno took the Senna surname to continue the trend, though.

I like to think that Bruno chose to run the name Lalli as a kind of message to everyone, as if he were saying "Yes, I'm a Senna - but I'm my own Senna. I'm looking to make my own way, not ride on my uncle's fame."
