The 'consistency' alternate championship system

Post by TheFlyingCaterham »

EDIT: To make things easier for me, I will redo the criteria for the events. PLEASE READ.
So, in this alternate championship, if you happen to DNF in any of the races, you can't score anymore points. As I stated in the title, consistency is the way to win a world championship here. DNS, DNQ, DNPQ and NC does not mean you are unable to score points anymore, but 1 single DNF means you can't get anymore points. So here goes nothing!

1950

Standings after British Grand Prix

1. Giuseppe Farina (ITA) - 9
2. Luigi Fagioli (ITA) - 6
3. Reg Parnell (GBR) - 4
4. Yves Giaraud-Cabantous (FRA) - 3
5. Louis Rosier (FRA) - 2
=6. Bob Gerard (GBR), Cuth Harrison (GBR), Philippe Etancelin (FRA), David Hampshire (GBR), Joe Fry (GBR), Brian Shawe-Taylor (GBR), Johnny Claes (BEL), Joe Kelly (IRE) - 0
=14. Juan Manuel Fangio (ARG), Prince Bira (THA), David Murray (GBR), Geoffrey Crossley (GBR), Toulo de Graffenreid (CHE), Louis Chiron (MON), Eugene Martin (FRA), Peter Walker (GBR), Tony Rolt (GBR), Leslie Johnson (GBR) - 0 [DNF]

Standings after Monaco Grand Prix

Spare Points? ;)

It is, the difference being that you're safe as long as your car doesn't go out during the race as opposed to not starting the race at all, which leads me to some questions: What happens in situations where drivers retire but completed a sufficient number of laps to be classified? Also, using Kobayashi's woes in Singapore as a recent example, isn't a DNS pretty much the same as a retirement in regards to consistency if the driver intended to race but was let down by the car's reliabilty?

I added spare points because at some races there would be points left over (like Monaco 1950, where 7 drivers had finished the race, but 3 of them DNFed at Silverstone, so only 4 drivers scored points).

For the first question, I will put that rule in when it is applied to F1 in that year.

And I'm being kind to those people who DNSed events :P

Yes. Yes I am :)

And Imola 1982 as well.

However, I will not be kind to the people who one-offed at Indy, as a win could guarantee them the title :P

There was a driver who did a one-off Indy 500 in my car numbers alternative championship, he finished second and won the championship! It was a cool thing to happen in my opinion...
