Re: Kimi Raikkonen to NASCAR???
The thing is, I think that if Kimi doesn't find good results within his first season or so, he may wash out of the NASCAR program. Look at Franchitti. Not that he's a bad driver at all, but the frustration of not being able to adapt to such a different format and car is a killer to someone who is us...

Re: Kimi Raikkonen to NASCAR???
This piece of news is actually true. He's teamed up with Kyle Busch's NASCAR Truck series program. NASCAR seems to be where a lot of accomplished drivers are looking after a career in F1 (Juan Montoya, Nelson Piquet Jr. [not that he's accomplished though]) or even Indy Car (Sam Hornish Jr., Dario Fr...

Re: Create your ideal 18-race calendar
I love your guys' picks for race calenders. I also love the fact that more people are aware of the wonderful track that is Portero de los Funes in Argentina. It's the perfect locatiobn for an F1 race, and the track is plenty wide and long for such an event. With more artificial bleachers for fans, t...

Re: F1 rejects who should have been F1 greats
Alan McNish, Alex Zanardi and of course Justin Wilson. All of which had huge potential. Zanardi even beat Michael Schumacher in an F1 test... but of course no one wants to bring that up... Wilson got a brief change with Minardi... but that whole experience was a joke and not a true test to his abili...

Re: LOTUS IN BLACK AND GOLD FROM NEXT YEAR ON!!
Despite the fight for the Lotus name heading into the 2011 season. It WILL be refreshing to see those colors.. but in all seriousness, now it will be Renault-Lotus... two teams who have struggled in recent years. So all this off season publicity will make up for all of the NON publicity it will rece...

I totally disagree... and he CLEARLY deserves an F1 slot. Have you ever seen this guy dominate a race? Plus, it's not just due to his good equipment , back in Champ Car he was amazing in the Aussie Vineyards car.

Re: F1 to head to Qatar?
I know that the Qatar track is wide enough for passing opportunities for F1, but I also agree, that it's flat and will resemble the parades at Bahrain. MotoGP runs it at night, which certainly adds a nice element to the whole thing, and it also covers the fact that there are few people in the stands...

Re: What is a pay-driver?
here is a story I read at Motorsport.com Trulli weighs in on this VERY situation. Jarno Trulli believes wealth is becoming too important as the remaining spaces on the F1 grid fill up for 2011. For the coming season, the likes of Nico Hulkenberg and Nick Heidfeld are facing the prospect of sitting o...

Re: What is a pay-driver?
I just think it's sad that F1 has come to a place where Pay Drivers are needed, and often more sought after than ones with more talent or better future prospects on the track.

Re: the greatest driver never to have competed in F1?
I'm sorry to have mentioned Jimmie Johnson!! LOL I can see the passion fuming from many posters here. I just thought he needed an honorable mention. As for Justin Wilson, Minardi was far below sub-par when he was there for his short stint... so I really don't even count that as F1 experience.

Re: Construction has started on the Austin GP Track
Why build a boring new track in the US when you have an American tradition in Indianapolis with all the necesities there in place, AND a ready fan base to devour the tickets when they go on sale? Bernie get your head out of your old wrinkely ass and stop causing rifts with the Hullman George Family ...

Re: Construction has started on the Austin GP Track
I'm a bit skeptical about the Austin race. Not b/c I don't think they'll finish in time... but b/c the layout is somewhat blah... yes there are some elevation changes, more I can say for many of the F1 tracks now, but I really think the best venue for a return to the US is Indianapolis.

Re: Create your ideal 18-race calendar
I really like your enthusiasm for bringing ovals into F1. I think it would surely bring a greater diversity and an even more rounded overall champion to the series, however Bernie Ecclestone and the rest of the F1 paddock would not even consider the idea. It's partially b/c there is an arrogance, fe...

Re: Sato in Indycar
Takuma needs some more time in an IndyCar. People often under appreciate the talent that the sport has. It would be difficult for ANY F1 driver to make the switch, not only to a different car... but to the ovals as well.
