Re: Unusual F1 Stats
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e59NdUEain4 Someone asked when I did the alphabet of most successful drivers, if it was posssible to work out the most successful driver from each country - well here it is! (OK it was done in early 2023 so for instance Max Verstappen only has 2 championships rather t...

Re: Unusual F1 Stats
Afraid not! Zanardi only had 1 6th place, Zonta had 3 (hence unrejectified himself, Zanardi didn't). I'm not looking at other forms of motorsport, just F1.

Re: Unusual F1 Stats
I meant 3 champions called Hill missed out, I wasn't referring to the total number of championships. Hakkinen is included in that list too and also has 2, my point was because of Hamilton's 7, an awful lot of champions miss out on having the chance to be included on the list! And I was also just wan...

Re: Unusual F1 Stats
Thought I'd compile an alphabet of the most successful drivers beginning with each letter of the alphabet (surnames), some of this might be subjective but I'm going on championships first, then race wins, then placings. Nobody begins with X :-) Fernando Alonso (could argue for Ascari with also champ...

Re: 2024 Reject of the season
Sadly as much as I was pleased Red Bull gave him a shot or he was out of F1 4 years ago, I too have to give it to Checo
I kind of wish he'd signed for one of the lower teams much earlier in the season - he'd be absolutely fine if he was in say a Haas or an Alpine.

Another reason for Gasly which I hadn't realised when originally posting is incurring absolute zero worth of damage for the whole season. That's quite something (especially with his teammate's attempts in Monaco!)

Re: Reject of the Race - Abbie Dabbie 2024
Even though he's done an amazing job this year (as it's clearly now him and not the car given how much Checo has struggled) I'm saying Max for that first corner move - he was basically reckoning McLaren would jump out of the way for him the constructors to worry about. DHM to Bottas for ruining two ...

I'll go with Gasly but give HMs to both Leclerc and Hamilton for getting to where they did from lowly grid positions (and it was only right that 12 seasons at Mercedes ended on a high for Hamiton too). Also HM to Norris for delivering under pressure - once Piastri was out of the reckoning he had to ...

Pretty terrible ay for Britain all told - Hamilton looking less and less like he wants to be there, Lando for getting that penalty by not lifting and George for making proper enemies of Max which probably isn't too clever (the whole situation was a bit reminiscent of Suzuka 1990 - it was either goin...

Alpine as a whole get it for me, you can add in Pierre Gas Leak when he was in a good position! (Back down to earth with a bang after the euphoria of the double podium in Brazil)
Don't see the point of Checo or Stroll or Sauber, they're among the ROTY candidates.

I was expecting Max to win once it was wet even from a bad grid position - thinking 2016 and also Schumacher-esque like Spain 96 too. So I'm going for Alpine - I expected them to be eaten up by Russell/Leclerc/Norris etc once the rain eased but it never happened! HM to Max and Yuki.

To me Kovalainen was a poor man's Bottas. Their careers were remarkably similar but Kovy's was in a shorter timeframe. Stage 1: Outperform a more experienced race-winner in a once-great but now upper-midfield team. Stage 2: Be Hamilton's designated wingman after Hamilton had a fractious relationship...

I guess Checo could be in danger if the junior team take Lawson for the last few races of this year and impresses though they have put Kvyat, Gasly and Albon in the senior team too early, the former is out of F1 entirely now and the latter two took a while to establish themselves at other (not as co...

Williams for a great points haul overtaking Alpine in the constructors and you wonder why they didn't have Colapinto in there instead of Sargeant in there earlier.

Gotta be Charles for making that strategy work. Carlos in comparison really struggled with it. Also agree with a HM for Checo - last 2 races he's been well within a pitstop of Max at the end which is what the team needs from him - it's looking more like Danny Ric is going to be out of F1 at this rat...

The race you could be thinking of about Grosjean was possibly Valencia 2012 - I think he was about to inherit the lead from Vettel (or be a very close 2nd behind Alonso, I can't quite remember which) when him and Vettel had just about simultaneous alternator failures.
